Agricultural Policy Forum in Tirana, Albania
25 October 2022
Between October 18th-20th 2022, Dr. Antje Jantsch and Dr. Arjola Arapi-Gjini attended the 22nd Agricultural Policy Forum in Tirana, Albania. The Forum provides an active platform for regional cooperation and the exchange of ideas on agricultural and rural development in the Western Balkans. Of particular importance is the ongoing collaborative research work investigating the role that youth plays in rural development. While it is commonly acknowledged that factors such as lack of secure jobs, low local wages and clear life perspectives remain key drivers of rural out-migration from the Western Balkans, the aim of such a collaborative work is to find sustainable solutions that see rural areas become attractive places and spaces for young people.
The event represented a great opportunity for RuWell researchers to network and establish closer cooperation with other researchers and stakeholders working from the region, with the aim of finding synergies between various research activities and projects that look at issues of youth (im)mobility and rural well-being.
