IAMO Doctoral Researcher wins DAAD Conference Travel Grant
17 May 2024
Our doctoral researcher from the Department of Agricultural Policy was awarded a prestigious travel grant by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). This grant will support his participation in the International Society of Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS) Conference in Malaysia, taking place from June 25th to 28th, 2024. This was after Johnson's research abstract, “Revitalising Rural Well-being: A Novel Approach with the Index of Well-being (IoW),” was accepted for an oral presentation at the conference. Part of the key deliverables of the RuWell project, this work in progress, co-authored with his supervisor, Dr. Antje Jantsch, represents a significant contribution to the field of well-being measurement.
IAMO actively encourages its doctoral researchers to pursue funding opportunities, which eases participation in important conferences and fosters professional development through networking, science communication, and knowledge exchange. Fundraising is a critical undertaking in science; any experiences gained are cherished. Congratulations to Johnson on this remarkable achievement. We look forward to his contributions at the ISQOLS Conference and the continued impact of his research on rural well-being.
